Many people write me to ask the physical requirements to become a model but before talking about these requirements I would like to show you and tell you a little more about the reality of working as an international model.
For this reason I decided to show you 5 things you should know before becoming an international model:
AGENCIES HIGH PERCENTAGE: It is true that each job performed by the models is well paid and one working day may be equal or more than what many other people dedicated to different professions can make in a month But what they have not told you is that the agencies are taking from the models a percentage that can go up to 50% or more depending or the country you are working at.
POOR CONDITIONS FOR VERY HIGH PRICES: The expenses advanced by the agencies, which include: flights, pocket money, household expenses and even for putting your photos on the agency's website, etc., must be paid back by the models from their percentage obtained and those expenses are very high!!! For that reason is that in the end models do not get a lot of money in their pocket and if models want to get a good payment they must work a lot and all the clients must like them and that is where the complicated part is due to the number of models that are always in town and high competition.
ADAPTABLE PERSONALITY - NEVER SAY NO: This is the point that bugs me the most of being a model, you have to make everyone happy and never show how your real emotions are in every situation. You must always look for the way to like everyone; do not make mistakes and do not say if something bothers you because if you do you are giving then a reason so they do not call you to work for their brand anymore. The downside of all this is that they teach you how to be fake to the point that you get tired and explode! because it is impossible to be right with all people and make everyone happy.
INDECENT PEOPLE: If you want to start working as models, you must be careful in the people you trust, many will promise you great things and will want to take advantage of your lack of experience in life and immaturity to force you to give them something in return. Before trusting someone, research about that person or agency and the possibilities you will have when working with them and their professionalism. Remember! It is not the agency who decides whether or not you work as such, but the clients who choose you in a casting. You may also find photographers or stylish people who will want to touch you in an undesirable way, but it is up to you to put a stop to them when this happens, do not allow anyone to take advantage of the need to make your dreams come true .... Value yourself, value your work and if they don't know how to be professionals you can teach them what it means to work with professionalism.
THEY WILL ALWAYS CRITICIZE YOU: If what you really want is to become a model, the first thing you will need is a great personality, since when you are a model everyone expects perfection from you, which does not exist and it is for that reason that they will criticize or make fun of the smallest detail in which you can fail ... I promise you !!! They will criticize you for everything but it depends on you and your personality to let these comments or laughter affect you, in my case when this type of situation happens what I do is think about the money that I earn and I compare it with theirs, I know that It sounds bad, but if you guys knew everything they have come to tell me, you would understand and we could call this a draw ... and you? What will be your weapon of protection to face these kind of situations? I recommend that you already think about one.
I could continue talking about the negative points of being a model, I assure you there are still many more but I wanted to make it short and substantial for those who do not like to read a lot and I hope in a next opportunity to share with you guys the goods of this profession which would help to compensate a little for the bad experiences that you may have.... Till the next time .
